"Sunset Silhoette" mosaic mural

Artist comment: This was a completely spontaneous piece inspired by some beach photographs I came across.

I had the vision of the golden appearing ocean with the very vibrant reds in the sky and the female silhoette fitted perfectly.

Achieving the silhoette was a matter of shaping the girl with the reds & golds surrounding her & then filling in this area with black tiles. Gave a much better definition than if I'd laid the black first & tried to lay the reds & golds right up to that - it most likely would have distorted the figure.

Very simple piece really, but it definitely "lives" in our home - you can't miss it!
