Working with the human form in mosaic is one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve taken on as an artist. Since completing my first nude (a mosaic mermaid) many years ago, I’ve returned again and again to figurative mosaic art — from stylised figures to detailed portraits — drawn in by the discipline, focus, and technique it requires.

When aiming for realism in mosaic portraits or nude artworks, there’s very little room for error. Every line matters. Every shade, every tile placement plays a role. It’s a slower, more deliberate process — and that’s part of why I love it. These works have become a way for me to push my own edges as a mosaic artist and keep refining my craft.

This gallery is a small collection of those explorations. Some are studies in movement or proportion, others in subtle tone and expression. For students and mosaic makers interested in trying portraiture or figurative design, I encourage you to give it a go — it’s a rewarding path, and a great way to deepen your skill. And for those seeking something unique, I remain open to commissions in this style — just send me an email to chat.
